I joined Vivaldi in January 2014 after 13 years as a developer and manager in Opera Software.
I have been hooked on electronics since I was 8-9 years old when I got my first soldering iron. I was fixing all sorts of radios, amplifiers, and TVs. My first job – when I was 19 – was to design PCBs and make electronics prototypes.
I moved on to computer programming when Commodore 64 and the IBM PC became available. I’m an autodidact in programming, and I have been working professionally with languages such as Assembler, Basic, Pascal, Modula-2, C, C++, Java, Python and JavaScript.
At Vivaldi, I work as a Senior Developer and Team Manager. My main focus currently is building the mobile browser for Android. I head up the Mobile team and contribute to the project by hands-on programming in Java and C++ in addition to administering the resources and design. The mobile browser is a game changer for us expanding our browser offering for all major OS platforms. This is an exciting project to be part of!
In my spare time, I enjoy both home cooking and eating out. I like to explore new restaurants, here in Oslo and abroad. My wife and I like going to the cinema, concerts, and theater in Oslo. For vacations, I like traveling to warmer places, such as Spain or Greece. I’m not really fond of the long and cold Norwegian winters. I do work out – spinning classes and yoga (beginner’s level) is what I usually do. In the summer I enjoy going on bike trips. 🚲
Now back to working on the Mobile app! 💪
Nice to meet you, Jarle 🙂

I don’t see the time to test it on my Moto 😀
